Denver Street School Continues to Change Lives as a DBAC Beneficiary for 2026

The Denver Broncos Alumni Charities is proud to once again recognize Denver Street School as an important beneficiary organization for the 2026 Golf Tournament & Gala weekend.

For decades, the Denver Street School (DSS) has provided hope, healing, education, and stability to struggling students across the Denver metro area. More than simply offering an alternative educational path, DSS creates a life-changing environment where students who have faced trauma, instability, homelessness, family hardship, addiction exposure, violence, or academic setbacks are given another opportunity to succeed.

Founded in 1985, the Denver Street School serves students who often feel overlooked or left behind in traditional educational settings. Today, forty years later, the school continues its mission of “bringing hope, a second chance, and the love of Christ to Denver’s struggling students through quality education in a safe environment and supportive network of caring adults.”

Located in Lakewood and serving the greater Denver metro community, DSS has built a reputation for individualized education, mentorship, trauma-informed care, and strong student support systems. The school operates with a small classroom environment and an intentionally relationship-focused model that helps students rediscover confidence and purpose.

According to the Denver Street School, approximately 95% of eligible seniors graduate, and 95% of graduates move on to higher education, vocational training, apprenticeships, military service, or the workforce within two years of graduation.

One of the defining characteristics of DSS is its commitment to meeting students where they are emotionally, academically, and personally. Through its “Hope Initiative,” the school embraces trauma-informed care practices that recognize that many students carry burdens far beyond academics. Rather than asking, “What is wrong with you?” the school instead asks, “What has happened to you?”

The Denver Street School also provides support services designed to remove barriers to success, including transportation assistance, tuition assistance, individualized education plans, childcare support for teen parents, mentorship, and college- and career-readiness programs.

The school’s impact is best reflected in its students’ voices.

“I probably wouldn’t have graduated without this school. It’s taught me not to be mad at the world, not to fight, and instead to take a breather and get stuff done. Thanks to donors for bringing food and supporting the school. DSS helped me become…me. I’d like to find a career in the electrical field.”
Ariana, 2026 Graduating Student

“At DSS, I’ve learned that faith is not simply about belief or knowledge, but about action. It is lived out daily in service to others and in how we honor the gift of life passed down to us by those who came before us. What DSS gave me was the chance to be whisked away from the brutality of reality and stabilize myself as I pursued my education.”
Andreus, 2026 Graduating Student

Many students who once believed graduation was out of reach are now pursuing careers in healthcare, trades, business, automotive technology, interior design, electrical work, pharmacy, and college education programs. Their stories represent resilience, determination, and the transformational impact of compassionate support systems.

In addition to academics, the Denver Street School emphasizes mentorship, faith, emotional well-being, and life preparation. The school’s low student-to-teacher ratio allows staff members to build meaningful relationships that help students feel valued, seen, and supported.

The organization remains fully privately funded through donations, community partnerships, volunteers, and supporters who believe in its mission.

Recent community engagement efforts continue to expand opportunities for students. Earlier this year, DSS highlighted the success of its 2026 Career Day program, which brought together professionals and mentors to help students explore future career possibilities and pathways beyond graduation.

The partnership between Denver Broncos Alumni Charities and the Denver Street School reflects a shared commitment to supporting youth, strengthening communities, and creating opportunities for brighter futures.

Through events like the annual Golf Tournament & Gala, DBAC helps raise awareness and support for organizations making a direct and lasting impact throughout Colorado. The Denver Street School’s dedication to restoring hope and helping students rewrite their stories makes it an inspiring and deserving beneficiary.
