A Night of Celebration at Empower Field
The recognition of these three Broncos greats took place during the Broncos-Raiders game, a fitting stage for honoring the men who helped define an era of Denver football. The evening was made even more special as members of the 1977 AFC Championship team, which played in the franchise’s first-ever Super Bowl, were also celebrated. The energy in the stadium was electric, with fans, former teammates, and family members all paying tribute to these icons.
Steve Foley – A Defensive Standout
Steve Foley, a true defensive powerhouse, played his entire 11-year NFL career (1976-1986) with the Denver Broncos. He remains the franchise’s all-time leader in interceptions, with an incredible 44 picks to his name. A key player in Denver’s vaunted “Orange Crush” defense, Foley was instrumental in the Broncos’ success during the late 1970s and early 1980s. His ability to read the quarterback, make game-changing plays, and lead by example made him a cornerstone of the secondary. Now, his name will forever shine in the Broncos Ring of Fame as a tribute to his excellence.
Riley Odoms – A Dominant Tight End
Riley Odoms was one of the most dynamic and versatile tight ends of his time. Drafted by the Broncos in the first round of the 1972 NFL Draft, Odoms played 12 seasons in Denver (1972-1983) and was a key offensive weapon. A four-time Pro Bowler, Odoms recorded 396 receptions, 5,755 receiving yards, and 41 touchdowns over his career. His combination of size, speed, and hands made him a nightmare for opposing defenses. His contributions helped shape the Broncos’ offensive identity, and his impact on the game continues to be felt as he takes his rightful place in the Ring of Fame.
Randy Gradishar – Hall of Fame Bound at Last
After years of waiting, Broncos legend Randy Gradishar has finally received the recognition he deserves with his selection to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The leader of the famous “Orange Crush” defense, Gradishar was a tackling machine, known for his incredible instincts and leadership. Playing for the Broncos from 1974 to 1983, the seven-time Pro Bowler and 1978 NFL Defensive Player of the Year amassed over 2,000 career tackles. His impact on the game extended far beyond statistics, as he set the standard for linebacker play in the NFL. Broncos Country has long advocated for his induction, and now, his legacy will be immortalized in Canton.
