“This was our biggest turnout yet. The support from the alumni, Ring of Fame members, local celebrities and sponsors far surpassed our expectations. It was tremendously rewarding to be part of an incredibly spirited atmosphere, and I personally took great pride in witnessing the abundance of joy expressed by all of the participants,” said Odell Barry, President of the Alumni Charities and chair of the golf tournament committee.
The beneficiary, Cleats for Kids, is a newly founded program, started by the Denver Broncos Alumni Association. It serves as an opportunity for underprivileged children to experience life lessons that football has to offer.
About the 2015 Tournament!
Cleats for Kids is a Denver Broncos Alumni Association (DBAA) initiative to ensure that children of all means have the opportunity to experience the wonderful life lessons that football has to offer.
As former professional athletes, we recognize that our earliest years in football were the most formative. That’s where we first learned about teamwork, commitment, sacrifice and doing our best for ourselves and for our teammates. But these early years are also the time at which young parents—particularly single-family households with multiple children—struggle to pay the high registration and equipment costs associated with youth football.
The DBAA Cleats for Kids program provides FREE cleats to football players in the Denver Police Activities League. Denver PAL serves a diverse constituency of high-risk, high-need children, and the benefits of the Cleats for Kids program is immediate and impactful.
